Marijke de Goey (1947) is an unbelievably versatile artist, Knight in the Order of the Dutch Lion, winner of the Art Prize of the City of Gouda and the first art prize of the Biënnale in Poznan, Poland (2013). She studied at the Rietveld Acadamie in Amsterdam and her work consist of, among others, the design of bridges, doubledeck trains, city/village squares, poetry and jewelery. Her monumental architectual work and sculptures are to be found all over the world; among these is the Tango Dancers in Auckland, New Zealand. Her work has been on exhibit in the major museums in the Netherlands, such as the Stedelijk Museum in Rotterdam and the Gemeentemuseum in The Haque, as well as in major cities of the world such as Milan, Mexico City and New York (MoMA).
