Artist Willeke van Tijn (1946) pursued her studies at the Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten in The Hague. Her talent received recognition with the European Prize for Painting as well as the The Hague Victorine Hefting Prize. With her imaginative realism Willeke fills her canvasses with expression and brings theater to life. Both in oils and pastels, energy radiates from her works. Through the years Willeke's art has been taken up in the collections of museums, among which the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem and the Museum for Modern Art in Arnhem. Her work has been exhibited many times in the Netherlands as well as in venues all over the world. Besides this, she also takes on contracts for big projects such as painting a Belgian wedding hall and producing a huge canvas for a French music chapel. Recently Van Tijn has been focusing on 3-dimensional carton works.
